I am just that smart. However, in my defense, I think it sounded better and made sense in context: "Hey Brooke, in this sentence, would you apostraphize 'years'?"
Di -- I was the "English Sterling Scholar" at Lone Peak High in 2003. Basically that meant I had the right to submit ANOTHER resume and go through ANOTHER interview at the district level with other "Sterling Scholars" for the chance at some scholarship money. Yah, not as cool as it sounds. And every time I made a grammatical error or used a word like non-existent "funnest," my friends -- and in some cases, teachers -- would shake their heads and say, "We expected so much more from the English Sterling Scholar!" The reason I'm telling you this? Because halfway through the year when it became very clear I was going to get nothing from the title except harrassment, I decided it gave me every right to make up words and have them be legitimate. So as the 2003 Lone Peak High School English Sterling Scholar -- I officially approve 'apostrophize' and 'apostraphize' as valid entries in the next edition of the dictionary.
