We're invited to spend July 4-7 with my new extended family ....
..... in 2011.
2011!!
When someone gives you almost two years notice for an event, I'm pretty sure it gives them permission to think you're slime and blacklist your unborn children from the geneaology charts if you don't manage to clear your schedule. And that's probably the point ... you will not get married this week, die this week, work this week or even think about being in school this week because we totally gave you enough notice to avoid any of those conflicts.
I discovered from Dave these reunions occur every other year. Attendance is mandatory. This group is big. They are loud. They are fun. They are loving. They still make me nervous. Sigh ... guess I know what we're doing in 2013. And just in case I forget? No worries, twenty-six months from now, just like today, a "save the date" magnet will arive in the mail so for the next two years I can be reminded of all the reunion fun we have to look forward to every single time I open the fridge:

Ha ha that IS hilarious... I'm glad my family isn't the only crazy one :-)
Justin's family does this too. And it's every year. And it's ALWAYS camping. I can give you a list of several things I would rather do than camping. Dinner with Hitler, maybe. However, in five years of marriage, we've always managed to have an excuse. This year was that I had a newborn and didn't want to expose her to germs.
I also wouldn't mind being blacklisted from the genealogy charts.
I'm glad you've got a plan to remember this for 2 years. I once got a baby shower announcement 2 weeks ahead and managed to forget about it. On the other hand, a last minute phone call generally works. Can you sign up for a last minute phone call in case you lose the reminder over the course of the next 2 years?
that is hekarious. I suppose you'd better keep your schedule clear. It is funny to me because Tyler's family is completely diffrernt. Everything is last minute- which use to stress me out a ton. laugh- but I got use to it-and now find it funny and interesting.
Wow. Not only are they super planners, they're super patriotic...
Miranda -- I'm with you on the camping! No one should ever be subjected to that long of a period without showers and mattresses with boxsprings.
Jess -- It's so interesting how differently two people's families can be. Like you said, it's part of what makes marriage fun. My extended family is really small so it's been kind of cool (even if a littel overwhelming) to join a big family. It can be an awesome support group.
Erin -- If we move and I lose the magnet, think that will get us out of it? =)
Just don't get pregnant in Octber, 2010.
